In honor of Black History Month, Gopher Athletics is celebrating those who made us great. Throughout February, GopherSports.com will share short interviews with African-American alumni from various Gopher programs. In these interviews, former student-athletes reflect on their time at the U of M, provide advice to current Gophers and share what Black History Month means to them personally.

What is it you miss most about the University?
I miss the camaraderie with my teammates. As a student athlete the community that exists between your teammates is very strong.

If you could give the current student-athletes any piece of advice, what would it be?
Don't limit you career choices, and take risk. Stretch outside of what you can imagine for yourself.

What was your favorite university or athletic event you've attended since you graduated and what made it so special to you?
I enjoy and look forward to attending the African American Student Reunion events. The gatherings highlight the success of alumni and current athletes.

What are you grateful for?
I am grateful for my family, friends and career.

What does Black History Month mean to you?
Black History is an opportunity for all Americans to time out and recognize the accomplishments of African Americans and what people can do to build on the legacy of those that came before us.

What occupies your time now?

Family, work and golf!
