MINNESOTA WOMEN'S TENNIS EARNS THREE TITLES AT UNLV INVITATIONAL

Minnesota junior Tammy Wang and freshman Amy Thomas</ a> won singles titles at the UNLV Invitational in Las Vegas. Wang earned the victory in Flight 2 singles over Marketa Chmelova of Oklahoma State after Chmelova retired in the second set. Wang won the first set, 6-4. Thomas defeated freshman teammate Michaela Havelkova, 6-1, 6-3, in Flight 3 singles.

The doubles team of seniors Kim Simonsen and Nora Sauska won the Flight 1 doubles crown by winning two matches. The duo shut out Vickie Gunarsson and Kim Bruno of Northern Arizona, 8-0, on Friday, then defeated Maria Galoustowa and Ashleigh Dolman of Oklahoma State, 8-4, on Saturday.

Sauska placed third in Flight 1 singles after defeating Maria Galoustowa of Oklahoma State on Sunday, 6-2, 6-2. Sophomore Andrea Rose placed third in Flight 3 singles by winning two of her three matches, including a 6-2, 6- 3 victory over Oklahoma State's Cameron Stoudt on Sunday.
