Gopher freshman Liz Wagner picked the perfect time to notch the first goal of her collegiate career, putting Minnesota up 1-0 at the 25:17 mark of the first half. Megan Johnson started the play with a direct kick, serving the ball across the box to Laurie Seidl. Eastern Michigan goalkeeper Sarah Willis charged the play but Seidl's header sailed past her toward the goal. Wagner completed the play, tapping a header across the goal line. Johnson and Seidl were awarded assists on the play. For Seidl, it was her 12th of the season, the second-best single-season total in Minnesota history.
Seidl added an insurance goal for the Gophers at the 65:00 mark. Amy Koehler served the ball forward from the midfield line to Seidl on a breakaway. Seidl dodged an Eagle defender and blasted her sixth goal of the season from 13 yards out on the left.
Minnesota dominated the match from the opening minutes, building a 26-5 advantage in shots on goal. The Eagles' Jessica Dargle broke free for a shot in the match's fourth minute, Eastern Michigan's only shot in the first half.
Gopher goalkeeper Dana Larson needed just three saves to pick up her eighth shutout victory in net this season. Eastern Michigan keeper Sarah Willis, the 1999 Mid- American Player of the Year, collected 16 saves.
