MINNESOTA DEFEATS URAL GREAT (RUSSIA) IN SECOND EXHIBITION GAME

GopJohn Blair Bickerstaff scored 23 points and Dusty Rychart pulled down 12 rebounds as the Golden Gophers defeated Ural Great (Russia) 84-69 at Williams Arena. The Golden Gophers open the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 20 against Texas-Arlington in Williams Arena.

The Golden Gophers held a slim 39-34 lead over Ural Great going into half time and the Russian team kept in close in the second half until Minnesota went on an 8-2 run to go up 62-51. After that it was all Minnesota as Kevin Burleson, Bickerstaff, Ryan Wildenborg and Terrance Simmons all scored points to give Minnesota the win.

Bickerstaff led the team in scoring with 23 points, while Simmons chipped in with 14 and Rychart with 12. Rychart also had a team-high 12 rebounds to lead the Golden Gophers in the win.

Minnesota opens the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 20, when the Texas-Arlington Mavericks come to Williams Arena. Tip-off is at 3 p.m.
