POHL, ROED HONORED BY WCHA AS PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Pohl, a native of Red Wing, Minn., was named WCHA Offensive Player of the Week for having a hand in six of the team's nine goals in the wins over Minnesota- Duluth. Pohl set a personal career high with four points (two goals, two assists) in Friday night's 5-3 win over the Bulldogs, then notched his third straight multiple-point game in Saturday night's 4-0 win with a goal and an assist. Pohl, who leads the team in scoring with four goals and 10 assists this season, has already matched his assist total from all of last season (10). He is tied for second in the WCHA in assists, and fifth in league games only with 14 points.
Roed, a native of White Bear Lake, Minn., was named WCHA Rookie of the Week for scoring two goals and assisting on two others in the pair of wins over the Bulldogs. Roed notched his second multiple-point game in as many weekends with a goal and two assists for three points in Minnesota's 4-0 win on Saturday over Minnesota-Duluth. Roed also chipped in a goal in Friday's win for a four-point weekend. He ranks third in the league in freshman scoring (3-5--8 in conference games), and leads the WCHA in power-play points (3-4--7 in league games).
The line of Pohl, Roed, and senior captain Nate Miller has led the team of late, scoring seven goals and adding 14 assists in the last four games. The trio combined for five of Minnesota's nine goals and eight of the team's 14 assists against UMD.
The Golden Gophers travel to Michigan and Michigan State this weekend for the seventh annual College Hockey Showcase. The faceoff for Friday night's game against the Wolverines is at 6:35 p.m. (Central time), with Saturday night's contest with the Spartans slated to begin at 6:05 p.m. (Central time).
