MINNESOTA MEN'S BASKETBALL DOWNS MOREHEAD STATE

staMinnesota shot a sizzling 63 percent from the field, including 46 percent from the three-point arc to defeat the Morehead State Eagles, 86-67 on Saturday afternoon at Williams Arena.

Minnesota started out hot when sophomore Dusty Rychart scored two quick baskets to give the Golden Gophers a 4-0 lead. In the middle of the first half, Minnesota went on a 12-0 run to go up by a score of 32-15 and finished the half ahead by 25 points (54-29).

In the second half, the Eagles would pull within 68-51 but would get no closer as the Golden Gophers won, 86- 67. Brad Cleaver led the Eagles in scoring with 17 points and Scott Charity followed with 14 points.

Junior Terrance Simmons led all scorers with 18 points, including a perfect 4-for-4 on three-point shots, to finish the night with 18 points and five assists. Junior Mitch Ohnstad came off the bence to score 17 points, while sophomore Joel Przybilla scored seven points and blocked four shots.

The Golden Gophers play host to Virginia on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at 8:30 p.m. at Williams Arena as part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.
