Mari Alaska-Anchorage (13-12-5, 10-9-5) scored the last two goals of the game, both in the second period, in a 4-2 victory over the University of Minnesota men's hockey team (13-12-5, 10-9-5) at Mariucci Arena Sunday afternoon. Seawolves' goaltender Gregg Naumenko stopped 31 of 33 shots he faced, including all 17 Minnesota shots in the third period, as he earned the victory.

Freshman John Pohl got Minnesota on the board first when hit put home a rebound off of a shot by freshman Jordan Leopold at 5:09 of the first period. The Seawolves answered back when Chris Pont scored just as Minnesota killed off a power-play. Alaska-Anchorage would take the lead with just 23 seconds to play in the first period when junior Rob Douglas got behind the Minnesota defense and beat goaltender Adam Hauser despite being hounded by two Gopher defensemen.

The Golden Gophers knotted the game at two when after a flurry in front of goaltender Gregg Naumenko which included Reggie Berg's slapshot which hit the post, Berg finally did score off of a rebound at 4:07 of the second period. The tie was short-lived because Alaska's Mike Scott's shot from the right side was initially saved by Hauser, but the puck trickled behind him and into the goal at 8:32. The Seawolves added an insurance goal at the 16:06 mark of the second when junior Klage Kaebel found the back of the net.
