MINNESOTA LOSES TO IOWA IN BIG TEN WOMEN'S TENNIS

The Minnesota women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Iowa in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten tournament at Michigan State. The Gophers fall to 8-3 against Big Ten teams and 15-6 overall after suffering their first loss in five matches.

The Gophers won the doubles point, with the tandems of Jana Hrdinova and Kim Simonsen, and Nora Sauska and Jen Howard winning their matches against their Iowa counterparts. The Gophers won only one of the six matches in singles, as Sauska won her match at No. 1 singles, defeating Hawkeye Toni Neykova, 6-1, 6-1. The match ended with two Iowa victories at the same time, as Iowa's Erica Johnson defeated Tara Elkins at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, and Hawkeye Erin Wolverton defeated Tammy Wang, 7-5, 7-5.
