USA TO WRESTLE CUBA IN WORLD DUAL APRIL 6

The evening begins at 5 p.m. with a dual match between the high school all-stars of Minnesota combined with some members of USA Wrestling Junior Team against the high school all-stars of Wisconsin. At 7 p.m. the Cuba National Team, who placed third last weekend at the World Cup Tournament in Spokane, Wash., will take on the combined USA team of U.S Athletes and Minnesota Storm Athletes.
The lineup includes several notable names. Wrestling at 119 pounds will be Lou Roselli, a member of the 1996 Olympic team. At 127.5, University of Minnesota 1999 All-American Leroy Vega will wrestle. At 138.5 pounds, Troy Steiner an NCAA Champion and current assistant coach at the University of Wisconsin will join the lineup. Former Minnesota wrestler Bart Golyer will follow Steiner in the lineup. Following Golyer at 152 pounds, brother Terry Steiner a current national team member and also an assistant coach at Wisconsin. NCAA Champion Lee Weber will wrestle at 167.5 pounds. Returning home to his alma mater, Derek Jones who is a current national team member will wrestle at 187 pounds followed by Joel Sharatt at 197 pounds and at heavyweight former Minnesota wrestler and All-American Billy Pierce.
The USA team will be coached by the head coach of Simley High School Will Short, a two-time All-American at Minnesota, Jim Short a former coach at Simley High School and the current Athletic Director at the school and current assistant coach at Minnesota Joe Russell.
The Cuba National Team is made up of several notable mentions as well. At 54 kilograms, Wilfredo Garcia Quintana will wrestle. Quintana was the 1997 World Champion. Other notables include Joel Romero Palacio at 85 kilograms. Palacio was the bronze medalist in the 1998 World Championships. At 130 kilograms, Alexis Rodriquez Valera will wrestle. Valera was the 1998 World Champion.
At halftime of the World Dual, the 1999 Big Ten Wrestling Champions from the University of Minnesota will be introduced.
