MINNESOTA FINISHES TIED FOR SIXTH AT MARY FOSSUM INVITATIONAL

three-The Minnesota women's golf team finished in a tie for sixth place after the final round of the Mary Fossum Invitational in East Lansing, Mich.

Indiana easily won the team competition with a three-round score of 901, followed by Kent at 923. The Gophers finished in a tie for sixth place with Wisconsin at 944 strokes.

Ohio's Julie Sovesky won the individual title with a six-over-par 222, one shot better than Natalie Tucker of Indiana. First-year golfer Karyn Stordahl led the Gophers with a total of 227 and finished tied for sixth place. Sophomore Megan Stier finished tied for 16th with a total of 234.

Minnesota will compete next weekend at the Northern Illinois Huskie Classic in DeKalb, Ill.
