MONTGOMERY SHARES BIG TEN SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONOR

KaUniversity of Minnesota soccer player Juli Montgomery was named the Co-Big Ten Conference Player of the Week. She shares the honor with Michigan's Kacy Beitel.

Montgomery, a sophomore defender from St. Paul, Minn. (Cretin-Derham Hall), spearheaded the Golden Gophers' defensive efforts in two shutout victories last weekend. Minnesota defeated Michigan State, 2-0, while allowing the Spartans just four shots. The Gophers captured their second win, a 1-0 victory over Northwestern, by limiting the Wildcats to five shots.

The Gophers head into matches at Ohio State and Penn State this weekend with a 5-3-0 overall record, 3-1-0 and third in the Big Ten.
