GOLDEN GOPHER BASEBALL TEAM RANKED 27TH IN PRESEASON POLL

The University of Minnesota baseball team is ranked 27th with 406 points in the Collegiate Baseball preseason poll. Stanford occupies the top spot in the poll with 480 points.

The Golden Gophers, who set a school record for wins with 46 and finished second in the Big Ten last season, are the highest ranked Big Ten team among the 40 teams ranked in the poll. The University of Illinois is ranked 35th with Ohio State University ranked 37th.

Minnesota, who is vying to become only the 14th team in NCAA history to surpass the 2000 win mark, opens its regular season on Sunday, Feb. 13 against Illinois State at the Metrodome.
