wSophomore Joel Przybilla scored a career-high 28 points and pulled down a career-high 18 rebounds to lead the Golden Gophers (10-3, 2-1) to a 85-82 win over the Iowa Hawkeyes in Williams Arena.

Przybilla also had seven blocked shots and five assists on the night. Przybilla's 18 rebounds surpassed Dusty Rychart's 17 rebounds in the game against Gonzaga in the first round of the NCAA Tournament and former Golden Gopher Miles Tarver's 17 that he pulled down against Indiana.

Minnesota started off quickly as Przybilla scored eight quick points to give the Golden Gophers a 8-2 lead. At one point, Minnesota had a 26-9 lead over the visiting Hawkeyes. Then Iowa went on a little run of its own, scoring 10 unanswered points to pull within nine. But Minnesota would finish the half strong and go into the lockerroom with a 43-30 lead.

The second half would see the Hawkeyes and the Golden Gophers playing a little more closely. With Iowa's Joey Galloway and Rob Griffin getting into the act. But Minnesota used the strength of Przybilla and had four other Golden Gophers score in double figures to lead Minnesota to the 85-82 win.

Terrance Simmons and Mitch Ohnstad each scored 12 points, with Simmons dishing out 7 assists. Dusty Rychart scored 11 and John-Blair Bickerstaff added 10.

Minnesota will head to Bloomington, Ind. to take on the Hoosiers on Saturday, Jan. 15. The next home game for the Golden Gophers will be on Jan. 19, when the Purdue Boilermakers come to town.
