Wisconsin's David Hukalo, who scored both the Badgers' game-winning goals in last weekend's sweep of North Dakota, shared the weekly honor with Pohl.
Pohl, a native of Red Wing, Minn., provided the leadership and offensive punch in Minnesota's scoring outburst in a pair of home wins (7-6, 7-3) over Denver. He assisted on a career high four goals in Friday night's game, including a pass to sophomore Jordan Leopold for the game-winning goal with just seven seconds left in overtime. Pohl also assisted on two of Minnesota's five first-period goals and a marker in the second period.
For an encore Saturday night, Pohl notched his first career hat trick with a shorthanded, even-strength, and power play goal in the 7-3 win. He also assisted on a goal for an eight-point weekend (3-5--8).
Pohl, who is second in the league in scoring, (9-13--22 in conference games), has centered lines that have produced 24 goals and 37 assists for 61 points in the last 14 games. Pohl individually has 10 goals and 16 assists in his last 15 contests, and centered a line with junior Aaron Miskovich and freshman Dan Welch that supplied five goals and 11 assists last weekend.
The award marks the second time Pohl has been honored by the league this season. He was named WCHA Offensive Player of the Week after a three-goal, three-assist weekend led the Golden Gophers to a sweep of Minnesota-Duluth on Nov. 19-20, 1999. The Golden Gophers travel to North Dakota for a series against the Sioux this weekend. Game times are 7:35 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday evening at Engelstad Arena.
