MINNESOTA'S GRUENING ON RAY GUY WATCH LIST

naUniversity of Minnesota sophomore punter Preston Gruening has been named to the Ray Guy Award Watch List. The Ray Guy Award will be presented to the nation's best punter who displays leadership, self-discipline and have a significant positive impact on his team's success.

Gruening, who handled kickoff duties in 1999, is one of Minnesota's breakout players this season. His 46.7 yards-per-punt average leads the nation. Gruening has a strong leg and is also responsible for holding on the field goals and conversion attempts. Gruening has a career long punt of 65 yards.

This is the inaugural year for the Ray Guy Award. Named after legendary University of Southern Mississippi punter Ray Guy, the award has become one of the most talked about awards in college football this season. Ten semifinalists for the award will be announced Nov. 8 and the three finalists will be named Nov. 30.
