BASKETBALL RECRUITING CLASS RANKED IN THE TOP 10 NATIONALLY

ranThe University of Minnesota men's basketball recruiting class is listed among the top 10 nationally by some recruiting services as the fall signing period draws to a close this week.

Hoopscoop ranks the Golden Gophers in a tie for sixth nationally and first in the Big Ten. Hoopscoop had Minnesota tied with Kansas, Virginia and Missouri for sixth and above national powers such as Syracuse, North Carolina, Michigan State and Michigan.

Bob Gibbons All-Star Report, nationally regarded as one of the top recruiting services in the nation, ranks the Golden Gophers' class as tops in the Big Ten. Midwest Hoops has the Golden Gophers' recruiting class ranked fourth in the Midwest and second best in the Big Ten behind defending national champion Michigan State (third).

Minnesota signed five student-athletes during the fall signing period, including nationally sought after Rick Rickert of Duluth East High School. Rickert, a 6'10" forward, was ranked in the top 10 in nearly every national recruiting service. In addition, Minnesota signed Maurice Hargrow, a 6'4" shooting guard; Jerry Holman, a 6'11 power forward; O'Neal Mims, a 6'8" forward; and Aaron Robinson, a 5'8" point guard.
