ROWERS FOURTH AT PORTLAND REGATTA OF CHAMPIONS

7,000-meteMinnesota placed fourth at the Portland Regatta of Champions on the Willamette River in Portland, Ore. The University of Washington won the race in a time of 21 minutes, 47 seconds over the 7,000-meter course. Oregon State was second in 22:40 and Cornell was third in 22:44. Minnesota's boat of Amber Riopel, Beth Hornby, Erin Streff, Angela Hedin, Michelle Hass, Holly Pearson, Nina Palmer, Katie Frankson and coxswain Libby Sharrow placed fourth in 23:31.

The course was the longest on which Minnesota has competed. Fall regattas typically take place over approximately 5,000 meters.
