BRANAGH NAMED BIG TEN PLAYER OF THE WEEK

pMinnesota senior Nicole Branagh was named the Big Ten Player of the Week by the conference office. Branagh averaged 7.63 kills per game and 5.25 digs per game in leading the eighth-ranked Golden Gophers to wins over Indiana and No. 11 Penn State. She established career highs with 40 kills and 29 digs in the five-game victory over the Nittany Lions. She is the first Big Ten player since 1996 and the seventh player in conference history to record 40 kills in a match. It is the second time this season and the sixth time in her career Branagh has earned Big Ten Player of the Week honors.

The Gophers (23-2, 12-2 Big Ten) are currently in second place in the Big Ten, one match behind fourth-ranked Wisconsin. Minnesota travels to play Illinois on Friday at 7 p.m.
