GOLDEN GOPHER MEN SQUASH BULLDOGS

vThe Minnesota men's basketball team destroyed the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs in what was expected to be one of their toughest games of the non-conference season. The Gophers dominated the game form the very beginning and never let up, ending with a 69-53 victory and improving their record to 9-1.
Minnesota got off to any easy start, going on a 13-2 run in the first five minutes of the game. The Golden Gophers extended their lead to double figures on a reverse layup by John-Blair Bickerstaff with 12:11 reminaing in the half. The lead continued to climb, and was as much as 16. The Bulldogs staged a slight comeback in the last three minutes of the half, but Minnesota went into the lockerroom with a 37-26 lead.
It was a tale of two halves for Louisiana Tech. In the first half, over half their shots were taken from the three-point arc and beyond. In the second half, they were able to score most of their points inside the paint.
Minnesota remained consistent and was hitting from everywhere. The Golden Gophers got their first 20-point lead of the game on a three-point shot by Shane Schilling with 7:37 remaining in the game. That lead never dwindled until the 0:48 mark when the BUlldogs snuck in a short jumper.
The Golden Gophers have 10 days off from compeition for finals. They will return the the Williams Arena floor on Dec. 22 to take on Dartmouth at 7 p.m.

Louisiana Tech's Gerrod Henderson led all scorers with 19 points. Only one other Bulldog scored in double figures, Nick Stamps with 10.
John-Blair Bickerstaff lead Minnesota with 16 points and seven assists. Dusty Rychart added 15 points and was the leading rebounder with nine. Shane Schilling and Michael Bauer added 10 points a piece. Bauer was particularly productive off the bench for Minnesota, in addition to his points he had two rebounds, two blocks and two assists. Kerwin Fleming also played well off the bench for the Golden Gophers, scoring eight points.The Golden Gophers have 10 days off from compeition for finals.
