WOMEN'S TENNIS EDGED BY OHIO STATE, 4-3

Ohio State started the match by winning two of three doubles matches to earn the doubles point. Minnesota took a 2-1 lead on victories by senior Kim Simonsen at No. 2 singles and junior Tammy Wang at No. 6 singles.
After a loss by senior Nora Sauska at No. 1 singles, Minnesota regained the lead with a victory by freshman Michaela Havelkova at No. 5 singles.
With Minnesota leading 3-2 and two matches to play, Minnesota freshmen Amy Thomas and Sandra Olsen each took their singles matches to the third set. Thomas held a 4-1 lead in the third set but lost to Sadhaf Pervez, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4. Olsen pushed Monica Rincon to a tiebreaker before falling, 7-6, 4-6, 7-6.
Minnesota hosts Penn State on Sunday beginning at 9 a.m. at the Northwest Athletic Club at 98th Street.
