Miller's first goal of the night got things started for the Gophers at the 5:25 mark of the first period. Assists on the play went to Erik Westrum, his first of two on the night, and Jordan Leopold. It gave Minnesota a 1-0 lead at the end of the first period.
Aaron Miskovich got the game-winner, his third short-handed goal of the season, with an assist going to John Pohl at 9:11 of the second period. Duluth's Colin Anderson, who scored all three of UMD's goals on the weekend, scored at 19:29 to make the score 2-1 going into the third period.
But Nate Miller gave Minnesota an insurance goal at 10:37 of the third period as he came down the right side of the ice and blasted a shot that beat Bulldog goaltender Brant Nicklin on the wide side to give the Golden Gophers a 3-1 lead. Jeff Taffe added an empty net goal, his sixth goal of the season, with 29 seconds left in the contest.
Minnesota goaltender Adam Hasuer knocked aside 18 of 19 shots on the night to record his 14th win of the season.
Minnesota will host the Colorado College Tigers next weekend in an important WCHA weekend series as both teams are tied with 22 point a piece in the standings.
