WOMEN'S TENNIS BEATS KANSAS, WINS FOURTH STRAIGHT

seMinnesota won five of six singles matches and two of three doubles matches in defeating Kansas, 7-2, Sunday in Lawrence, Kansas. The Golden Gophers have won four straight matches and are 8-3 on the season.

Senior Nora Sauska led the singles wins with a three-set victory over Brooke Chiller at the No. 1 position, 4-6, 7-6, 7-6. Freshman Sandra Olsen defeated Cheryl Mallaiah at No. 2, 6-4, 6-2. Senior Kim Simonsen won her match at No. 3 singles, defeating Monoica Sekulov, 6-1, 6-1. Other singles winners were freshman Michaela Havelkova at No. 5 and junior Tammy Wang at No. 6.

In doubles, the No. 1 team of Olsen and Sauska defeated Chiller and Mallaiah, 8-2, while the No. 2 team of Simonsen and freshman Amy Thomas defeated Sedulov and Julia Sidorova, 8-3.
