Puputti, who stopped all 31 Gophers shots, was named the tournament's most valuable player. Killewald earned all-tournament honors after stopping 53 of 55 shots, including 36 against UMD, in two games.
The champions scored at 13:42 of the opening period when Navada Russell's shot from the left point found it's way through traffic and past a screened Killewald.
The Bulldogs clinched the game in the third period when Brittny Ralph tipped in a pass from Erika Holst with 10:50 to play in the game while on the power-play.
With the victory, UMD (25-3-3) earns an automatic berth in the AWCHA National Championship, March 24-25 in Boston, Mass. Minnesota (30-6-1) is still in contention for an at-large berth. The four-team field will be announced by USA Hockey on March 19.
Besides Killewald, the Gophers had two other players named to the all-tournament team, forward Tracy Engstrom and defense Winny Brodt.
