GOPHER WOMEN'S TENNIS DEFEATS IOWA STATE

seasoMinnesota swept the singles matches and won two of three doubles matches in defeating Iowa State, 8-1, Sunday at the Northwest Athletic Club in Bloomington. The Golden Gophers are now 6-3 on the season.

Senior Nora Sauska won her match at No. 1 singles, defeating Noortje Cornelissen, 6-0, 6-1. At No. 2 singles, freshman Sandra Olsen defeated Edna Vazquez, 6- 0, 6-2.

Senior Kim Simonsen won her seventh straight match at the No. 3 singles position, defeating Karin Westberg, 6- 3, 6-1.

Other singles winners were freshman Amy Thomas at No. 4, freshman Michaela Havelkova at No. 5 and sophomore Jennifer Howard at No. 6.

In doubles, the No. 1 team of Sauska and Olsen defeated Cornelissen and Westberg, 8-2. Simonsen and Thomas swept Kendra Leese and Kristin Gyaki at No. 2, 8-0.
