GYMNASTICS TEAM ENDS SEASON AT THE NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

Beuckens tied for fourth in the all around at the NCAA Region 2 Championships on April 1 with a total of 39.125. She also tied for first on the floor exercise with a score of 9.85. In the national rankings, Beuckens is tied for 20th on the floor exercise with a regional qualifying score of 9.90. She was also ranked in the top 25 in the all around the first six weeks of the season.
Beuckens was Minnesota's first individual to qualify for the NCAA Championships since Marie Roethlisberger in 1990, when she won the uneven bars title.
MINNESOTA'S 2000 SEASON - Minnesota started the season with a school-record opening-meet score, 194.800, set at the Sports Pavilion against Auburn. The Golden Gophers were ranked among the top 25 teams in the nation all season, with a high of No. 4 set after the first week of the season.
The Gophers recorded the second-highest score in team history, 196.125, in the final meet of the regular season. Minnesota then surpassed that score with a 196.150 to place third at the Big Ten Championships. Four Golden Gopher gymnasts earned All-Big Ten honors: sophomore MaryAnne Kelley (Barrington, Ill./Fremd) in the all around, senior Judy Cavazos (Monterrey, Mexico/ Mexicana del Noreste) on the uneven bars, newcomer Leigh Dixon (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./The Bishop's School) on vault and sophomore Megan Beuckens on floor exercise. It was the third straight honor for Cavazos on uneven bars and second straight conference floor exercise honor for Beuckens.
Minnesota finished fourth at the NCAA Region 2 Championships, which were held at the Sports Pavilion. Beuckens tied for first on the floor exercise. She advanced to the NCAA Championships in the all around, where she placed 25th in the nation.
