RANGSITHIENCHAI NAMED ASSISTANT WOMEN'S TENNIS COACH

Rangsithienchai was a four-year letterwinner for the Golden Gophers from 1995-99. She finished her career second in school history for career singles victories with 89 and still ranks third in that category. She ranks second all-time for singles wins in a season, with 28 set her senior year. Rangsithienchai also ranks fifth in total career victories (singles and doubles) with 144.
Rangsithienchai earned the Big Ten Conference Freshman of the Year award and All-Big Ten honors in singles in 1996. She was named the conference's Women's Tennis Sportswoman of the Year in 1998. A three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, Rangsithienchai was named Minnesota's co-Most Valuable Athlete her junior year.
Rangsithienchai was a volunteer assistant tennis coach for the University of Minnesota last season. She also worked as a professional tennis instructor at the Edina Country Club in 1998 and 2000 and the Wayzata Country Club in 1999.
In addition to her tennis experience, Rangsithienchai worked as a research assistant for Minneapolis Orthopedic Specialists and the University of Minnesota Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience.
"Sitinee has proven herself as a former player and as an individual," said Novak. "This is a great addition for the team. She has great enthusiasm and a wonderful feel for the game."
Rangsithienchai earned a bachelor of science degree in neuroscience from the University of Minnesota's College of Biological Sciences in 1999.
