Seidl collected a Keely Dinse pass 16 yards out from the right of goal. She turned to the middle and fired a bullet past Wildcat goalkeeper Beth Wells at the 39:16 mark. Dinse and Allyson Brodie were credited with assists on the play.
The goal moved Seidl into fourth-place on the Gophers' career points list. Seidl's 84 points surpassed former Gopher Erin Hussey, who tallied 83 points from 1993-96.
Kentucky outshot the Gophers by a 19-15 margin but Eibensteiner's career-high save total turned the Wildcats away on several excellent scoring opportunities. Wildcat forward Keri Boyce fired a team-high six shots in the match.
Minnesota head coach Barbara Wickstrand, who captured her first career victory with the win, lauded the play of junior midfielder Alison Rackley. "We moved Alison to center midfield and that really helped give our forwards more opportunities. She played an exceptional game tonight."
The win also marks the first time in 1 ˝ seasons that the Gophers defeated a nationally ranked team. The last such Minnesota win was a 1-0 victory over No. 24 Michigan on Oct. 4, 1998.
