theFirst-year sprinter Tahesia Harrigan has been named the Big Ten track and field athlete of the week for her record-setting performance Saturday at the Minnesota Classic.

Harrigan set school records in both the 60- and 200-meter dashes and ran the third leg of the school-record setting 4x400 relay. Her time in the 60 was an NCAA provisional qualifying time and ranks second nationally this season.

Competing for just the second time as a Gopher, Harrigan broke her own school record in the 60 preliminaries with a time of 7.42 seconds and lowered that to 7.35 in winning the finals. She also broke the school record in the 200 in her first competition at that distance, eclipsing the old mark by .21 seconds in 24.47.

Harrigan finished the competition by running a 56.6 split in the 4x400 as Minnesota set a school record and won the event in 3:47.19.

In her first collegiate competition, Jan. 20 at the Minnesota Invitational, Harrigan set the school's 60 record in both the preliminaries and finals, running times of 7.55 and 7.50.
