GOLDEN GOPHER BASKETBALL CONCLUDES FIRST INTRASQUAD SCRIMMAGE

Senior forward Travarus Bennett (right) scored 22 points as the White Team defeated the Black Team, 74-66, at Williams Arena in the Golden Gophers first intrasquad scrimmage of the preseason. Bennett led three players in double figures as junior guard Kevin Burleson added 18 points and junior center Jerry Holman chipped in 16.

The White Team was led by freshman forward Rick Rickert's 18 points. Senior guard Kerwin Fleming added 14 and freshman guard Maurice Hargrow had 11. The Gophers were without the services of senior forward Dusty Rychart because of a bruised sternum, and sophomore forward Michael Bauer, who was ill.

The Gophers will hold their annual Maroon and Gold Game on Nov. 3 at Williams Arena. The game is open to the public and admission is free. Game time is TBA.
