Brandi Watts Advances in Qualifying Singles Championships

Minnesota's Brandi Watts (Monument, Colo./Lewis-Palmer) won both her matches in the Omni Hotels Region IV Championships-Qualifying Singles rounds today in Madison, Wis. Action continues tomorrow with the final qualifying rounds.

Watts defeated Meghan Colville of Ohio State in straight sets 6-0, 6-2. She then faced Eastern Michigan's Shari Garmarnik and won that match 6- 4, 6-7 (7), 6-1. Watts will play tomorrow at 9 a.m. against Sarah Jane Connelly from Notre Dame. If Watts wins her match against Connelly, she will advance to the Main Draw Singles Championships round which begins on Saturday.
