GOPHER VOLLEYBALL WINNING STREAK ENDED BY NO. 6 WISCONSIN

WiscoThe Minnesota volleyball team saw its five-match winning streak come to an end as the Golden Gophers were swept by No. 6 Wisconsin, 3-0 (30-28, 30-27, 30-18), in Big Ten Conference action at the Wisconsin Field House in Madison, Wis., on Sunday. Wisconsin (23-3, 17-1) earns at least a share of the conference title with the win, while Minnesota falls to 18-10 overall, 10-8 in league play.

Wisconsin compiled a dominating 63-37 advantage in kills, most of that coming in the third game when Wisconsin outhit the Gophers by a 22-9 margin. The Gophers were unable to find an answer to Badger All-America middle blocker Sherisa Livingston, who blasted a match-high 24 kills and hit .364.

As a team, Minnesota hit just .174 to .243 for the Badgers. Sophomore middle blocker Bethany Brafford was the lone Gopher in double-figure kills with 11. Setter Lindsey Berg was credited with 30 assists.

Minnesota closes its regular season at home next weekend with matches against No. 9 Ohio State on Friday and No. 14 Penn State.
