Lindsay Lieser, who was four-of-nine from behind the arc, established a new Minnesota career record in three point field goals with 136.

The lead was jostled back and forth in the opening minutes of first half action. Minnesota gained permanent control of the game on a lay-up by Kadidja Andersson, making the score 15-14 and giving the Gophers a lead that they never relinquished.

Minnesota went on a 10-0 tear in the first period, with the Gopher defense holding Dayton scoreless for over six minutes.

In the final minutes of the first half, Dayton tried to close the scoring gap that was as wide as 40-26. The Flyers only came within nine points of the Gophers, ending the period at 40-31.

In second half play, the Gophers came out stronger offensively, shooting an impressive 63 percent from the field. Minnesota also tightened up defensively, blocking four shots and forcing eight turnovers.

Overall, Minnesota held the advantage in rebounds (48-35), assists (16-13) and blocks (4-1). The Gophers led by as many as 28 points.

"This was another unselfish win," said Minnesota head coach Brenda Oldfield.

Sophomore guard Lindsay Whalen netted 17 points, nine rebounds and 4 assists, while Corrin Von Wald chipped in 15 points, including two-three pointers.Janel McCarville contributed 10 points and nine rebounds, while Lieser recorded 13 points and five rebounds.

The Gophers sport a perfect 4-0 home record for the season and are 6-1 overall.

Next, the Gophers will hit a two game road trip beginning Friday, Dec. 7, against Virginia Commonwealth, at 7 p.m.
