BRADEN'S GRAND SLAM LEADS GOPHERS AT TRIANGLE CLASSIC

RaleiSenior Angel Braden hit a grand slam to propel the Gophers to a 10-7 win over UNC-Wilmington in rain-delayed action at the Triangle Classic in Raleigh, N.C. Minnesota (10-2-1) finished pool play with a 3-0 record, then began bracket play with a 6-1 win over East Carolina.

Freshman Piper Marten was the winning pitcher in both games. She struck out nine of the 10 batters she faced in the first game and followed that with an eight-strikeout performance in the second game.

The Gophers advance to face Virginia in the semifinals Sunday at noon.
