GOPHER WOMEN'S TENNIS DEFEATS HOUSTON

teThe Minnesota women's tennis team won all three doubles matches and defeated Houston, 5-2, Saturday in Milwaukee.

Sophomore Michaela Havelkova teamed with freshman Valerie Vladea to defeat Sarah Borwell and Anne Marie Rapp, 8-6, at the No. 1 doubles position. At No. 2, senior Tammy Wang and junior Andrea Rose defeated Sarah Flood and Kailey Meisinger, 8-6. Sophomore Amy Thomas and freshman Brandi Watts defeated Jen Baccarani and Joanne Keen at No. 3, 8-4.

Thomas was Minnesota's only winner in singles. She swept Meisinger, 6- 0, 6-0, at the No. 2 singles position. Houston defaulted the final three singles matches due to injury.

Minnesota will play at Marquette on Sunday.
