GOPHER WOMEN'S TENNIS WINS AT MARQUETTE

doubleThe Minnesota women's tennis team defeated Marquette, 6-1, Sunday in Milwaukee, Wis. The Golden Gophers improve to 4-1 on the season.

Minnesota won the doubles point by winning two of three doubles matches, then won five of six singles matches.

Freshman Brandi Watts</ a> improved her record to 4-0 at the No. 6 singles spot with a win over Sommer LaValley, 6-2, 6-2. Sophomore Amy Thomas won her match at No. 2 singles, defeating Genevieve Charron, 6-2, 6-4. Sophomore Michaela Havelkova won at No. 3, defeating Eva Trujillo, 6-2, 7-6.

In doubles, Havekova teamed with freshman Valerie Vladea at the No. 1 position to defeat Charron and Laura Garcia, 8-4. Thomas and Watts won at No. 3, defeating Eva Trujillo and Alexandra Stankovic, 8-4.
