GOPHERS WOMEN'S TENNIS SHUTS OUT SYRACUSE

The Minnesota women's tennis team won all six singles matches and got the doubles point to go on to defeat Syracuse, 7-0, Saturday in Maryland. The Gophers are now 4-0 all-time against Syracuse.

Sophomore Michaela Havelkova teamed with freshman Valerie Vladea to defeat Michelle Neveklovska and Zuzanna Borucka 8-4, at the No. 1 doubles position. Sophomore Amy Thomas and freshman Brandi Watts defeated Katie Thompson and Zani Suttle at No. 3, 9-7.

On the singles side, four out of the six matches were won in two straight sets. The Gophers now improve to 5-3 overall, 0-2 in the Big Ten.

Minnesota will play at Maryland on Sunday, 12 p.m. CST.
