EGGLESTON, NIMTZ AND KILLEWALD NAMED VERIZON ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT

Senior Elaine Eggleston is a five-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree, and has earned Academic All-America recognition from the Women's Intercollegiate Cross Country Coaches Association twice. She earned second-team All-Big Ten honors in her sophomore and junior seasons, and was named to the All-Big Ten first team in her senior year. Eggleston is one of two Golden Gopher cross country runners (Nimtz is the other) who have competed at the NCAA Championships four times. Eggleston, a tri-captain of this year's squad, has a 3.55 grade point average, and is double-majoring in pre-veterinary medicine and genetics, cell and developmental biology.
Corinne Nimtz, a senior cross country runner, has earned Academic All- Big Ten honors five times, and was a Women's Intercollegiate Cross Country Coaches Association Academic All-American last year. Earlier this month, she earned her second Top 5 award, an award given annually to the five student-athletes with the highest grade point averages in the Women's Athletics Department. Along with Eggleston, Nimtz is one of two Minnesota runners to compete at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in all four years of her career. She is also one of only two Gophers (Jody Eder, 1983-85) to compete at the NCAA Championships in cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field in the same year. Nimtz, a business major, owns a 3.93 grade point average, and served as a tri-captain of the 2000 cross country team.
Senior hockey goalie Erica Killewald has earned Academic All-Big Ten honors twice, and is also a two-time WCHA All-Academic Team member. Killewald led the WCHA in save percentage (.912), and was second among WCHA goalies in winning percentage (.690) and goals against average (2.12) in her senior season. Earning 21 shutout victories, she played in 111 games as a Gopher, and owns an impressive 73-23-9 (.731) record. A 2001 All-WCHA first team selection, Killewald led her team to its first WCHA Championship crown in 2001, after winning the AWCHA National Championship in 2000. Killewald is a kinesiology major and has a 3.39 grade point average.
