Offensively, the Golden Gophers collected 12 hits - the eighth time this season that they have tallied double figures in the hits column. Five of Minnesota's hits were for extra bases, including junior Jason Kennedy's fourth-inning home run - his first of the year. Kennedy finished the night 2-for-4 with two RBI. Junior Chris Guetzlaff earned the first triple of his career with a pinch-hit rope down the right field line to lead off the bottom of the sixth inning. Sophomore second baseman Luke Appert led all Golden Gophers with three hits - two of them doubles. Appert also added four RBI and two runs scored. Appert improved his team-leading average to .396 in 2001. Joining Appert at the top of the heap is junior Jack Hannahan (.396). Hannahan dropped two hits, scored three times, batted in two RBI and stole two bases, Wednesday night.
Krogman was credited with the win - the first of his career, as the Golden Gophers improved to 6-7 on the season. Mike Holman was the lone standout for the Huskies, going 3-for-4 on the night.
