GOPHER SOFTBALL DROPS TWO GAMES AT CREIGHTON SPRING CLASSIC

In the opener against the Cornhuskers, Nebraska's Leigh Suhr provided the only offense of the game with a three-run home run with two outs in the top half of the sixth inning. Piper Marten went the distance in the circle for Minnesota and took the loss, falling to 10-5 for the season. Tammi Hays, Shelly Nichols and Veronica Roberts accounted for the three Minnesota hits.
In the second game, Creighton scored two runs in the first inning and another run in the third inning to account for the game's scoring. The Bluejays took advantage of three Minnesota errors to score two unearned runs. Gopher starter Angie Recknor did not retire a batter in the first inning and took her third loss of the season in four decisions. Allie Fisk was Minnesota's lone baserunner of the game with a first-inning single.
Minnesota continues play in the Creighton Softball Spring Classic on Saturday with games against Buffalo at 10 a.m., Drake at 2 p.m. and Missouri-Kansas City at 4 p.m.
