SCHMITT 13TH IN SHOT PUT AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

Friday.University of Minnesota's Aubrey Schmitt placed 13th in the shot put at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., on Friday. Schmitt, a senior, threw a distance of 48 feet, 11 3/4 inches. UCLA senior Christina Tolson won the event with a throw of 55-9 3/4.
Schmitt will be joined by teammate Beth Howard in the weight throw competition on Saturday.
