LINDQVIST FINISHES 11TH IN JAVELIN AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

OreJunior Linda Lindqvist placed 11th in the javelin on the third day of competition at the 2001 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore. with a throw of 150-feet, 11-inches. Lindqvist, a graduate from Aland, Finland, threw her 11th place finish on her first attempt before fouling on her third throw. Newcomer Brianne Johnson from Penn State won the event with a throw of 172-feet, 4-inches.
Senior Aubrey Schmitt will compete on Saturday in the hammer throw for the Golden Gophers. Schmitt placed sixth in the discus and 11th in the shot put earlier in the competition.
