ERICA FLOYD NAMED ASSISTANT WOMEN'S BASKETBALL COACH

"Having played at Ohio State, her experience and leadership is just what our team needs to compete in the Big Ten. She is enthusiastic, hard-working and a proven winner. She is a perfect fit for our basketball family."
Floyd returns to her Big Ten Conference roots. She played at The Ohio State University from 1988-92, earning two varsity letters. Floyd was a team captain and voted the Buckeyes' most improved player for her senior season in 1991-92. She helped Ohio State to a share of the Big Ten title in 1989 and earned her bachelor's degree in education in 1993.
Floyd comes to Minnesota after spending three seasons as an assistant coach at Cleveland State University. She worked with the Viking post players, coordinated team travel and scouting efforts, and shared recruiting responsibilities. Cleveland State posted three non-losing seasons during her tenure, going 15-13 in 1998-99, 15-15 in 1999-00, and 14-14 a year ago.
A native of Kent, Ohio, Floyd began her coaching career at Kent State from 1994-98. She also served as the school's Assistant Athletic Marketing Director.
Following her senior year of high school, Floyd was named the 1988 Gatorade Ohio High School Player of the Year.
