AMY THOMAS EARNS WIN AT UNLV WOMEN'S TENNIS TOURNAMENT

In consolation play, Amy Thomas (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) earned the lone win for the Gophers in the Lady Rebels Tennis Tournament during second round action today. She defeated Rocio Fantilli of LSU by scores of 4-6, 6-1, 6-4. She will face Dominika Olsewska from Oklahoma State tomorrow in consolation finals.
Minnesota came up short as Valerie Vladea (Kitchener, Ontario/ Burlington Central), Brandi Watts (Monument, Colo./Lewis-Palmer), and Andrea Rose (North Vancouver, British Columbia/Handsworth) all won their first round matches yesterday, but were defeated today.
Thomas and Watts, the doubles winners yesterday, also lost their match to Bakken/Zsiros of UNLV, 8-6.
Championships take place tomorrow.
