MINNESOTA CLOSES OUT SERIES WITH A TIE

The second-ranked Minnesota women's hockey team ended the series against fourth-ranked St. Lawrence with a 3-3 tie in overtime at Mariucci Arena. Minnesota holds an unbeaten streak of 14 games and is undefeated at home, holding an 8-0-3 record on their home ice. On the season, the Gophers are 14-2-4 overall and 9-1-2 in the WCHA.
After one period of play, Minnesota trailed St. Lawrence 2-0. However, the Gophers took the lead by scoring three consecutive goals in the second period. The first goal came unassisted from Kristy Oonincx less than two minutes into the period. Minnesota's Laura Slominski scored on a tip from a Stacy Troumbly shot. A 1:05 later, Jerilyn Glenn scored to give Minnesota a 3-2 lead, which lasted throught the remainder of the period.
The Gophers looked as if they were going to sweep St. Lawrence, but at 18:56 of the third, the Saints capitalized on a power-play opportunity to send the game into overtime.
Minnesota, who sits on top of the WCHA, returns to league action against Bemidji State Saturday and Sunday in Bemidji, Minn. Minnesota has an all-time series record of 10-0-1 against the Beavers. Both games are slated for a 2:05 p.m. start at the John Glas Fieldhouse.
