Wendell Named WCHA-Women's League Rookie of the Week

For the second week in a row, a member of the Minnesota women's hockey team has garnered a weekly conference award. The Western Collegiate Hockey Association has announced that Krissy Wendell has been named the WCHA Rookie of the Week for her performance against St. Cloud State University. Wendell scored seven points, putting up four points against SCSU on Friday and three in the home opener at Ridder Arena, Oct. 19. On the weekend, Wendell was a +8 and shot for .333 on nine shots for three goals. She averaged 1.5 goals per game, 2.0 assists per game for 3.5 points. Wendell ranks third in the WCHA with six goals and 11 points in four games.
Minnesota's Nat alie Darwitz received the award last week for producing seven points against the University of Findlay.
Minnesota continues WCHA action this weekend against Ohio State, Oct.25-26 in Columbus, Ohio. Both games are scheduled for a 7:05 p.m. start. The Gophers return home Nov. 1-2 when the Wisconsin Badgers come to town.Friday's game is at 6:05 p.m., while Saturday's is 4:05 p.m., both in Ridder Arena.
