Women's Tennis Comes Back at ITA Midwest Regional Championships

Nischela Reddy and Amy Thomas and Michaela Havelkova and Valerie Vladea both experienced mixed results.

In the first round of competition, Reddy and Thomas were defeated by the duo of Girsang and Peters from Western Michigan 1-8. After moving to consolation play, they beat Dayton's pairing of Whalen and McDowell 8-1 advancing to the second round consolation match which takes place Saturday.

Havelkova and Vladea also lost in the first round of doubles play falling to Purdue's Reitz and Burgelio 6-8. They then went on to win in consolation play by defeating Evanston's Hoener and Jelton 8-5.

Action will continue tomorrow as the doubles teams continue in consolation play and four Golden Gophers - Thomas, Angela Buergis, Havelkova, Vladea - begin main draw singles competition.
