The "visiting" Maroon squad jumped to an early lead in the third inning with junior Sam Steidl scoring on a hit from senior Scott Welch. Welch then came home on en error by freshman shortstop Matt Fournasiere. Freshman pitcher Andy Peters helped his Maroon team defensively by starting the game with three 1-2-3 innings.
The White team came back in the fifth when freshman outfielder Taylor Vander Aarde hit a triple off sophomore Tim Theis with fellow freshmen Mike Mee and Andy Hunter on base, tying the score up 2-2.
Sophomore third baseman David Hrncirik brought the Maroon team back in front when he scored on a double by catcher Jake Elder. The Maroon team looked to keep the the game in their favor with pitcher Glen Perkins on the mound, but things began to fall apart the bottom of the ninth inning. Infielder Jon Becker reached first on a passed third strike, Mee walked and Vander Aarde was hit by a pitch to load the bases with one out. Fournasiere, making up for his error in the third, then hit a single to bring home Becker and even the final score.
