No. 12 Women's Gymnastics Upsets No. 8 Iowa State

The Cyclones outscored the Gophers on three events, yet Minnesota managed to pull out the slim victory powered by senior MaryAnne Kelley's (Barrington, Ill./Fremd) stunning performance. Kelley snagged first place on beam with a near-perfect career-high 9.95 mark to lead the Gophers to 49.025 team score. Sophomore Annie Laatsch (Lakeville, Minn./Burnsville) recorded a 9.90 to tie second place, while junior Jenny Alf (Ripon, Wis./Ripon) placed fourth with a 9.875.
Kelley continued to shine against Iowa State as she finished first on floor exercise with a season-high 9.925. Laatsch's 9.825 tied third place with two others Cyclones to help lead Minnesota to a 49.05 team score.
Minnesota finished on vault with a 48.4 as a team. Courtney Norman (Minneapolis, Minn./Cretin-Derham) finished second overall with a 9.875. Leigh Dixon (Rancho Santa Fe, Calif./The Bishop's School) and Kelley each scored a 9.725.
Mary Skokut (Carmel, Ind./Carmel), Laatsch and Kelley each tied third place on bars recording a 9.8
The Gophers will continue their two-game Iowa road trip with a competition against the Iowa Hawkeyes on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m..
