Women's Gymnastics Wins in Iowa

All around competitor senior MaryAnne Kelley (Barrington, Ill./Fremd) was the leading scorer for the Gophers. Kelley tied her career-high on floor exercise with a 9.95 performance to take top honors. Her 9.95 score ties the Gopher all time highest score. Courtney Norman (Minneapolis, Minn./Cretin-Derham Hall) put in a career-high performance in the event earning a 9.925, taking third place.
First year gymnast Carolyn Yernberg (Blaine, Minn./Blaine) and Kelley each tied the 9.85 mark on vault to earn third place finishes.
Annie Laatsch (Lakeville, Minn./Burnsville) and Kelley tied on uneven bars each scoring 9.875 to finish in third place. Alicia Opsahl (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake) and Mary Skokut (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) each scored 9.825 to finish fifth.
Kelley led the Gophers on beam earning a 9.925 for third place, followed by Laatsch's sixth place score of 9.825.
Kelley went on to take the all around crown with an overall score of 39.6, a Minnesota school record. Skokut finished third with a 39.150 mark.
The next competition for the Gophers will be a home meet against Iowa State in Williams Arena on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m.
