sOutstanding pitching and timely hitting led to the Minnesota Golden Gopher softball team winning its first two games of the IronKids Bread Classic this evening at the Metrodome, to start 2-0 for the second consecutive season.

Stephanie Sward (Maplewood, Minn./North St. Paul) led off the game with a single and later scored, as the first- year athlete went 2-for-3. The Golden Gophers added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth as senior Christine Lindberg (Hoffman Estates, Ill./Barrington) singled in Allie Fisk (Orono, Minn./Orono).
